About Us

David Balyozian, MD

Taking care of children has always been my passion. Before medical school, I completed a year of AmeriCorps with City Year Chicago, a school-based program that helps students at risk of not graduating high school. I spent that year helping children navigate learning differences, tough home environments, and their own emerging sense of self. Then I went to the University of Massachusetts for medical school. There, I was drawn to both psychiatry and general pediatrics, but chose to do a general pediatrics residency at UC San Diego. While in pediatrics residency, I found myself continually drawn to the mental well-being of my patients. I wanted to know about their lives and help them solve the problems that held them back. After graduating from pediatrics, I went to LAC+USC for adult psychiatry training and finally to UCSF for child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship.

Dr. Balyozian is currently only accepting new patients 11 years old and younger.

Thara Nagarajan, MD

Hi, my name is Thara Nagarajan (she/her) and I am a Board Certified Psychiatrist who specializes in seeing adults, children, and adolescents. I graduated from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, where I developed my interests in pediatric psychiatry. I then completed my adult psychiatry residency at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, and finally completed a fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the University of California, San Francisco.  I am especially passionate about social justice and equality in mental health, and have had experience in medical school and in medical training working with racially/ethnically minoritized populations, and gender-diverse populations. I joined San Francisco Child Psychiatry as I share Dr. Balyozian’s passion in increasing access for pediatric mental health to families and youth across the Bay Area. In my spare time, I enjoy trying new restaurants, thrifting, hiking, and spending time with friends and family. .
